Helen began her career in the adrenalin-fuelled world of live TV as a multi camera director. Filming shows such as ‘The Big Breakfast’, ‘Big Brother’ and with ‘SM:TV’ & ‘CD:UK’, she finally realised her original objective of filming live on-stage performance. Working at a multitude of national and international venues, often for televised events, she filmed most seminal artists of the time including concerts with Blur, Oasis, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Gorillaz.
With a comparable passion for food and for the countryside, she next relinquished the vast quantity of cameras she had previously relied upon, to produce and direct the innovative television series ‘Jamie at Home’, with Jamie Oliver. As a result of the programme’s success, she was invited to film her first TV commercial campaign for Sainsbury’s. She made TV series’ with Heston Blumental and Raymond Blanc, and most memorably directed one of the final orchestral performances with the late great Ennio Morricone at Abbey Road Studios. Most of her work since then has been directing commercials, specialising in food and lifestyle.
Helen has many years experience working alongside presenters, actors and musicians and she is known for her visually captivating work for brands such as M&S and Sainsbury’s, Carte D’Or, Walkers, Morrisons, and Waitrose in the UK, and many leading brands in the US. Her campaigns have often been collaborative, on several occasions working with animators to create theatrical or comedic scenes for Christmas campaigns and beyond. Her work celebrates the joy of friends and family, often with the delight of preparing and sharing food, presenting scenes which feel uniquely atmospheric and warmly authentic.
